The Egg and Sperm Race

In today’s modern world, with so much equality for men and women and the rise of feminism, IT girls and ladette culture women are more likely now to hop into bed with a man they just met a few hours ago, than they ever would or could before.

This is not all women of course but for those highly sexed, free thinking women, this might be quite acceptable behaviour and if men can do it and not be labeled as a ‘slag’ why can’t women?

Why do men (and women) still view women who behave this way as ‘easy’?

Obvious and immediate answers are that they should have more respect for themselves and their bodies. But then this could apply to the men too, but it doesn’t does it? Men can have numerous sexual partners and yet they are labeled stud and still the women compete for their attention. No one competes for the attention of ‘easy’ women.

So why despite the advance of women as equals is it still the case that when it comes to being equal partners in matters of sex, with equal ‘stud’ status the balance is still very much in favour of the men?

I believe I have an answer. Could it be quite simply that if we go back to basics and look at this attitude from a survival point of view, on a deep subconscious level men quite simply do not want their sperm competing with the sperm of others for that egg!

Men are designed so to speak to sow their seed as far and wide as possible whereas women are supposed to choose a mate carefully in order to produce fine offspring. So on this very basic level it makes sense for women to behave with caution in matters of sex, and for men to behave with wild abandon. Not that I approve of this mind you – but it seems to be the case.

This ‘survival of the fittest’ instinct could be what drives the attitude that women who sleep around are easy yet men who sleep around are studs. We just don’t realise it. But even upon realising it, there is little we can do, as this ‘attitude’ towards the sexes and sex appears to be innate!

  1. Hi Leah, great article….it’s sad but true isn’t it, that women get labelled nasty words for doing the exact same thing as a man and they get applause.

But in my mind, if I knew a man had been, shall I say, around the block alot of times, that would make me think EWWWY…especially in these days with all the sexual kaka’s people can catch…blaaaach.

No matter what if a man loves a woman or a woman loves a man, the past shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it does.

    I love your articles !!

  2. Thanks Kathy

You make a good point, play safe!

  3. Interesting blog.
I recall my (very respectable) grandmother espousing the virtues of male stud versus female purity.
Actually I think your article clearly exposes this myth.
From a male’s perspective, and in my experience, it is very dangerous behaviour. My grandmother was speaking PRE-MARRIAGE for males. However it is nonsense that men will be studs prior to a permanent relationship and suddenly become devoted to one partner only (without difficulty). In most cases they cannot.
Secondly, in my experience, a long term loving relationship is the best experience in life and priceless. Why is this goal not desired anymore? (Topic for another blog article?)
    Answer: because it is misunderstood.
Wild expectations of life and everything else.
Marriage (I once heard a wise Rabbi remark) is not about finding the right person; it is about BEING the right person.
This is true all life though.
In conclusion, the juice of life is in relationships, and sexuality is a small but very important part.
I am crap at relationships, and not a stud. However I have managed (by the Grace of God) to have had a steady loving intimate relationship with my (long suffering) wife for 20 years (to date), despite all the challenges of life which have been many and varied.
Hope this contributes rather than takes away from your blog article. No offence intended. The article was very good, and highly thought provoking - which is the aim of every copywriter.

    • Hi Julian

You are fortunate indeed, as is your wife I’m sure.

I agree, the ideal state is for us to find the ‘one’ and stick with them. Easier said than done.

I believe I may have found the ‘one’ myself. Time will tell.

      Thanks for commenting :)
